     This month, we celebrate the third anniversary of www.nguyenkinhdoanh.com.

 

     We have been very happy and honored to introduce in our front pages Mrs. Luisa Balza’s dedicated efforts to recruit LVN students; the Exhibition of Paintings, Buddha statues and sculptures of Sung Nghiem Meditation Center; My Thuy’s CDs; Martial Arts Grandmaster Nguyen Tan Xuan’s activities; the charming CEO Kim Thoa of Thai Bao’s studios and photos (see her website http://www.thaibaoprolab.com/).    

 

     Our congratulations to Geramie Dizon, 19, representing The Philippines, who won the title Miss Asia USA 2009 on June 13, 2009 at Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.  We very much appreciated the invitation from Luisa Balza, who is the mother of Virgelia Villegas – owner, producer, and director of Miss Asia USA -- but regret that we were unable to attend the event this year as we are still in Vietnam.  Last year, we participated and enjoyed it.

 

     Since our arrival in Saigon on Tuesday April 21st, 2009, we met with musician Ngo Tin, Ngo Tan (manager of Nam Binh Restaurant, where we had cheerful parties), Feng Shui Master To Dinh, singer Y Lan, engineer Le Anh Tuan (Y Lan’s husband), Dr. Nguyen Anh Cuong, Cosmetic Surgery MD Pham Van Can, musician Pham Duy, Giao Chau LLC Director Tran Thuan, editor Phuong Tan of Martial Arts Magazine, Grandmaster Huynh Anh Hai at Giao Long, musician Mien Duc Thang, Dr. Le Khanh, Tim Aline Rebaud, Professor Le Trung Thuc, Nam Ngoc, Hoa va Hanh, and others.

 

     Thanks to the widespread visibility of our website, many Vietnamese in India, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Europe, and elsewhere have contacted us with words of encouragement and support.  We are grateful to all of you and would like to rephrase our policy in website grader:  This site is dedicated to Doanh’s and Helen’s personal news, travels, martial arts, friends as well as acquaintances.

     Bruce Lee co-wrote this martial arts tale of a young man in search of Truth.  Together with James Coburn and screenwriter Sterling Silliphat, he created the story.  Bruce Lee conceived the idea to introduce Zen Buddhist philosophy to a wide audience, CIRCLE OF IRON was finally filmed years after his untimely death.

 

     A young martial artist, Cord (Jeff Cooper) has heard legendary stories of a man named Zetan who guards a great book of ancient wisdom purported to have the answers to everything.  After going through many trials and fierce combats, Cord has obtained the book of ancient wisdom.  The conclusion has surprised all who watched the film to the end.

 

     What is in the book?  Each page has a mirror.  When we look through the pages, we see exact images of our own selves.

 

     David Carradine, a major character in the movie CIRCLE OF IRON, best known for his work in the 1970s television series Kung Fu and more recently in the Kill Bill movies, was found dead in a Bangkok hotel on June 4, 2009.  To date, there have been questions of whether he was murdered or committed suicide.

 

     It has been two and a half years since I wrote the article and thirty one years since I first watched CIRCLE OF IRON in a Los Angeles theater,  I believe the more we know about ourselves, the more we would understand our world.
